Who We Are

Hey there, we're the homies behind the microphones. As survivors of child abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, and dating violence, we spent a long time navigating the messy aftermath of trauma. We knew firsthand how heavy, isolating, and downright exhausting the road to recovery could be—and we knew something had to change.

Why We Started This Podcast

We looked around and noticed that conversations about trauma were often kept behind clinical closed doors or spoken about in hushed tones. We wanted a space that felt like sitting on the couch with your closest friends—a place where you can talk about the hardest things in your life without filtering your truth, and maybe even laugh along the way.

That is why we launched Two Homies Healing. We wanted to build the community we wished we had when we were at our lowest points.

The Homies

D

Daneida Benjamin

Host. Mother. Grandmother. Soulful listener and fierce advocate.

Daneida brings a profound depth of warmth, empathy, and hard-won wisdom to every single conversation. As a survivor of sexual abuse, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse, she deeply understands the weight of trauma. Her own healing process is where she truly found her voice, transforming her into an incredible listener who offers gentle, grounded advice to anyone walking a similar path. Daneida is a proud mother of three and a grandmother of two, and her heart for family flows into everything she does. When she is not behind the microphone breaking down the stigma surrounding trauma, you can usually find her leaning into her favorite self-care rituals.

Obsessed with candles, journaling, and I love listening to music.

AJ

Co-host. Survivor. Advocate. Children's Book Author and Illustrator.

AJ is a family violence advocate, children’s book author, and illustrator who seamlessly blends her professional expertise with her lived experience as a survivor of abuse. Her career includes pivotal roles at a local family violence shelter and within a prosecutor’s office, giving her a deep, systemic understanding of trauma and recovery. Driven by a mission to stand in the gap for others, AJ utilizes compassionate advocacy and creative storytelling to dismantle the barriers of trauma. When she is not advocating for her community or recording behind the microphone, she prioritizes self-care and finding joy to replenish her own spirit.

AJ is a lover of interior design, fitness, shopping, ice cream, and spending quality time with her fur babies.

What We Stand For

Raw Honesty

We don't sugarcoat the healing process. It's messy, and we talk about all of it.

Unexpected Humor

Laughing through the pain isn't just coping; it's a superpower that takes away the trauma's control.

Deep Compassion

We meet every listener right where they are at, with zero judgment and total empathy.

Radical Community

Trauma thrives in isolation. We defeat it by sticking together.

Our Promise to You

Whether you are just beginning to process your past or you have been on this road for years, you have a safe place here. We show up every single week to prove that recovery is not just a distant dream—it is completely possible, and it is a journey we are walking together. Although healing isn't easy or linear, your Homies are here with you.
